Map of Masonic Districts of Connecticut
The Grand Lodge of Connecticut is divided into nine districts, some with two or more sub-districts in each. They originated with the county system employed by state government, then adjustments were made in the early 20th centruy with the recent expansion of the railroad system within the state, and recently in 2011. A member from each district forms a chain of progressive Grand Lodge officers who generally move through appointed, then elected positions. This distribution allows each year for a different district to have a Grand Master come from their district.
